About
I'm a digital marketing professional with 10+ years of B2B experience, and have worked primarily with smaller companies, helping them get traction and grow with limited resources.
I've been working in the WordPress space since 2017, for product and hosting companies, but also on a consultancy basis.
In my spare time I blog about growth for WordPress businesses on WP BizDev.

- One of the staff is either a junior marketer, or open to hiring one of an intern The idea is that I help shape strategy but there is someone who can execute, based on my instructions. We can collaborate on Slack, have weekly calls, and use Notion for project management. A word of warning: the starting point is going to be validating product-market fit, which really means... understanding if there is a business opportunity there at all. Interested, let me know via a DM here. Please provide me as much detail as possible. I hope to choose on project in the next 5 to 7 days. Why am I doing this? It's a learning experience for me too. AI has changed everything and I'm exploring different GTM approached. Cheers - Lawrence
Great initiative - happy to share it with my network and on my website.
Let me know when your website is live and have an announcement out.

My official contributions have been at WordCamp Asia or ones in Australia, on Contributor Day or helping out / advising folks in the hallway tracks.
Here's my problem - for what I know and do, which is Marketing, options are limited. Because the project is mostly about devs and run by devs. There's a big gap in 'business culture', which I think is a concern.
I wrote about this a year and a half ago, and if you follow me, you know that every few months I vent about it :)

@abdullah17 Sounds good - feel free to get in touch!
Content is typically business focused, so we would need to find an angle. As opposed to a 'How to' type piece.
Envato has announced that they are raising their commission to 50%, referring to "challenging marketing conditions"
Here are my thoughts:
- The strategy may be to purge authors who are not generating enough revenue to reduce the operational burden
- There is still value in authors staying on ThemeForest (unless the operational costs are too high)
- The risk of ThemeForest shutting down has increased. It's time to take steps to mitigate that.
- But it's time that authors start selling directly, like StylemixThemes have done so successfully since 2021
I wrote about this on my blog: https://wpbiz.dev/growth/envato-commission/
Anyone on ThemeForest affected by this?
