Generate a full favicon set
WordPress asks for a 512 by 512 site icon and derives the rest, but Apple touch icons and older browsers still want their own sizes. Upload one square image here and take away the whole set.
Common questions
What size does WordPress want for a site icon?
512 by 512 pixels, square. WordPress crops and scales down from there for the browser tab and mobile home screens, so give it the largest clean square you have.
Do I still need a .ico file?
Rarely. Every browser in current use accepts PNG favicons. A .ico is only worth producing if you must support Internet Explorer, which WordPress itself stopped supporting some time ago.
