Premium plugin submission motivation opportunity

Submitted by Alkesh Miyani April 30, 2026

Folks can easily add their WordPress.org plugins (those are free for everyone).

We have one more option as a “Premium” plugin submission, too. But right now, those installs might not be possible due to less API data.

2 ways to get that information (let’s understand things with Envato / CodeCanyon),

  • Get the data via API (have to register the APP)
  • Count sales numbers as “active installs” count

This way, people can be motivated to list their premium plugins.

Same as, you capped the org with 240 points, you can add a new cap for Envato item listing, like 60 points.

I coded something like this in free plugin WP Plugin Info Card. Third-party vendors can fill out their plugin details, enable a REST endpoint, and let others subscribe to this data via a shared token.

    More on that: https://docs.dlxplugins.com/wp-plugin-info-card/overview/custom-plugin-cards
