These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of WPFolks (wpfolks.org). By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms.
If you don’t agree, please don’t use WPFolks.
1. Who we are
WPFolks is operated by Ankit Panchal, an individual based in Pune, India. Contact: hello@wpfolks.org.
2. Eligibility
- You must be at least 16 years old.
- You must be legally capable of entering a binding agreement in your jurisdiction.
- You must not be banned from using WPFolks under a prior enforcement action.
- If you’re using WPFolks on behalf of an organization (e.g. posting a job for your agency), you represent that you have authority to bind that organization to these Terms.
3. Your account
- You’re responsible for keeping your password secure.
- You’re responsible for everything done through your account.
- One account per person. Shared or role-based accounts are not allowed.
- You must give us accurate info, and keep it current.
- You may not impersonate anyone.
- You must notify us immediately at security@wpfolks.org if you suspect unauthorized access.
4. The service is free
WPFolks is free to use. We may introduce paid features in the future; if we do, they’ll be clearly optional and these Terms will be updated.
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any feature at any time. We’ll give reasonable notice before removing major features, but we don’t guarantee the availability of any specific feature.
5. Your content
Ownership
You own everything you post on WPFolks — profile info, posts, comments, plugin submissions, job listings, resources.
License to WPFolks
By posting content, you grant WPFolks a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, distribute, and promote your content on the platform and in platform-related materials (like the weekly newsletter, social media previews, and SEO metadata).
This license lasts as long as your content is on the platform. When you delete content, the license ends (except for backups which purge within 35 days).
You’re responsible for your content
You represent that:
- You own or have the rights to everything you post.
- Your content doesn’t infringe anyone’s copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- Your content is accurate and not misleading.
- Your content complies with our Community Guidelines.
We can remove content that violates these Terms or the Community Guidelines at any time, with or without notice.
6. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the platform for spam, phishing, fraud, or illegal activity.
- Scrape, crawl, or bulk-download data without written permission.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any account, system, or data.
- Manipulate upvotes, reactions, leaderboard positions, or reviews using fake or multiple accounts.
- Post false or misleading information, including fake job listings.
- Use automated tools to create accounts or post content.
- Upload malware, exploits, or code that compromises the platform or its users.
- Harass, threaten, or target any other member (see Community Guidelines).
- Violate any law or regulation that applies to you.
7. Plugin and theme submissions
When you submit a plugin or theme to the showcase:
- You must be the author, or have explicit written authorization from the author.
- The submission must not contain malicious code, known security vulnerabilities, or intentional obfuscation.
- Descriptions, screenshots, and feature claims must be accurate.
- Published versions must match what’s actually available on WordPress.org (if listed there) or at the stated download URL.
- We can reject or remove any submission at our discretion.
8. Job listings
User-submitted listings
- Posting is free.
- Listings are active for 30 days by default.
- Jobs must be for genuine WordPress-related roles.
- You represent that you have the right to post the role, that the role description does not infringe any third party’s rights, and that you will accept and respond to applications in good faith.
- WPFolks is not a party to any employment, contractor, or freelance relationship that results from a listing. We’re a directory, not an employer or recruiter.
External or aggregated listings
WPFolks may display a limited number of external job listings aggregated from publicly-available sources. For these listings:
- We display only the title, company, location, job type, and a short summary.
- Full job details and applications happen on the source site.
- Each listing attributes the original source and links back to it.
- Companies can request removal of their listings at moderation@wpfolks.org — we honor all good-faith takedown requests within one business day.
No warranty on listings
We don’t verify every job listing. We remove listings that are reported as fraudulent or that violate these Terms, but we make no guarantees about the legitimacy of any specific listing. Do your own due diligence before applying.
9. Email and communications
When you create an account, you consent to receive:
- Transactional emails (welcome, account changes, password resets, security alerts, notifications about your content).
- Community-guideline enforcement emails.
You can opt out of the weekly newsletter at any time via the unsubscribe link.
Transactional emails cannot be opted out of while your account is active, because they are required to operate the service.
10. Intellectual property
The WPFolks name, logo, design, and platform code are owned by us. Nothing in these Terms grants you rights to our branding beyond what’s necessary to use the service.
The WordPress® name and logo are trademarks of the WordPress Foundation. WPFolks is an independent community platform and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Automattic, Inc., the WordPress Foundation, or the WordPress® open source project.
11. Copyright and DMCA
If you believe content on WPFolks infringes your copyright, send a notice to moderation@wpfolks.org with:
- Your physical or electronic signature
- Identification of the copyrighted work you claim has been infringed
- The URL or exact location of the allegedly infringing content on WPFolks
- Your contact information (address, phone, email)
- A statement, under penalty of perjury, that you have a good-faith belief the use is unauthorized
- A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the copyright owner or authorized to act on the owner’s behalf
We review all notices within 48 business hours and take appropriate action, which may include removing the content and notifying the poster.
If your content is removed and you believe it was in error, you can send a counter-notice to the same address.
12. Disclaimers
WPFolks is provided “as is” and “as available”. We make no warranties — express, implied, or statutory — about:
- The availability, reliability, or uptime of the service
- The accuracy or legitimacy of user-submitted content (including jobs, plugins, profiles)
- The quality or conduct of any other user
- The outcome of any interaction, transaction, or employment arrangement you enter into through WPFolks
You use WPFolks at your own risk.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, WPFolks (and its operator) will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or exemplary damages, including loss of profits, data, goodwill, or business, arising from your use of the platform.
Our total aggregate liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of WPFolks will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you’ve paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) USD $100.
Some jurisdictions don’t allow these limitations. If you’re in one, the limitations apply only to the extent permitted by local law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold WPFolks harmless from any claim, damage, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from:
- Your violation of these Terms
- Your content
- Your use of the platform
- Your violation of any third party’s rights
15. Termination
You can leave anytime
Delete your account from your dashboard settings. Your data is permanently removed within 30 days (see Privacy Policy for details).
We may terminate your access
We may suspend or terminate your account if you:
- Violate these Terms or the Community Guidelines
- Engage in fraudulent or abusive behavior
- Fail to respond to a moderation request within 30 days
Severe violations (fraud, harassment, illegal content) may result in immediate termination without warning.
Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) continue after your account ends.
16. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles.
Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of WPFolks will be resolved in the courts of Pune, Maharashtra, India, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
Informal resolution first
Before filing any legal action, please email hello@wpfolks.org and give us 30 days to resolve the dispute informally. Most issues can be sorted out without lawyers.
17. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. Material changes will be communicated by:
- Email to your registered address at least 14 days before the change takes effect
- A visible notice on the platform
- Updated Last updated date at the top
Continued use of WPFolks after the change date constitutes acceptance.
18. Miscellaneous
- Severability — if any part of these Terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
- No waiver — if we don’t enforce a right, we haven’t waived it.
- Assignment — you can’t assign these Terms without our consent. We may assign them to a successor or affiliate.
- Entire agreement — these Terms (together with the Privacy Policy and Community Guidelines) are the entire agreement between you and WPFolks.
- Force majeure — we’re not liable for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control.
